The electric cooperative industry is ever-changing, multifaceted and complex. Its personnel and directors are committed to their member-consumers and to offering reliable electric service at the lowest cost.
Indiana Statewide’s Job Training, Safety & Loss Control (JT&S) department is dedicated to educating employees and consumers about electric systems and offering life-saving training on ways to stay safe around electricity.
JT&S instructors have over 185 combined years of experience in the energy industry, most with backgrounds as certified line professionals at electric cooperatives or investor-owned utilities. Each instructor has completed the Certified Utility Safety Administrator Program (CUSA), as well as Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA), and Coyne CPR and First Aid Training programs. All staff are members of the National Safety Council (NSC), American Society of Testing and Development (ASTD), Quad States Instructors Group, National Utility Safety and Education Association (NUTSEA), and Certified Loss Control Program (CLCP).
The JT&S staff conduct monthly safety meetings at each participating cooperative on important topics such as pole top and bucket truck rescue, and more than 100 other subjects. Over the years, JT&S has presented hundreds of safety workshops and exhibitions – certifying thousands of people. Staff is available to customize programs to meet the needs of any audience.
