Pence Visits ISA Headquarters
Gubernatorial candidate Mike Pence attended an event at the Indiana Statewide Association of Rural Electric Cooperative’s headquarters on August 15. During the event, Rep. Pence answered questions about Hoosier jobs and the economy, and participated in an exchange of information about the energy industry and the impact proposed EPA regulations could have on Indiana’s rural electric cooperatives. Indiana Statewide has taken an active role in sitting down with key policy makers from all levels of government. Indiana Statewide’s Government Relations team relished the opportunity to facilitate these discussions and bring cooperative leaders from all over the state to engage current and future state leaders. Congressman Pence and his staff commended the level of engagement and knowledge of these critical issues. CEO’s and Statewide Directors made the most of this opportunity by showing their level of passion in their industry and their commitment to the Rural Electric mission.

Odle Heads Back to D.C.
Dexter Odle of Linden, Ind., will represent Indiana on the Youth Leadership Council (YLC) of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). Odle will attend the YLC Conference, July 21-25, in Washington, D.C. The conference agenda includes leadership and team building exercises, meeting with Capitol Hill staff members who are alumni of NRECA’s Electric Cooperative Youth Tour, and a competition to select the NRECA’s National Youth Spokesperson. While in Washington, the YLC members will gain a broader understanding of cooperatives through discussions with Glenn English, CEO of NRECA, Sheldon Peterson, Governor of the National Rural Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC) and Bob Phillips, CEO of the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC). Odle’s electric co-op experience began in June when he attended the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour in Washington, D.C. with over 1,500 high school students from across the country who were sponsored by their local electric cooperative.
